be wary of anything from All Types cars. Not the best reputation.

I'd concentrate on looking for a WR for that amount of cash Craig, but you're still very much in buyer-beware terrority.
If you don't mind a few jobs that will need sorting as you go, you should be able to find a basically sound car. But be sure those 'jobs' aren't big money ones (They usually are though unfortunatley).
We'll keep our eyes peeled for you.

Can the members of the forum give me a better description of the pros and cons of the different generation of UrQuattros.

As I understand it. (We only got the WR's in the US, less than 70 1985's)

1982-1985 = WR, 2.1L , Solid lifters, Serious quattro differential.

1986-1989 = MB, 2.2L, Hydr. lifter, More "refined" diff.

1990- = RR, 20v motor........ Most refined.

Please fill in the technical blanks, and suggest why each has merit over the others.

Micky suggested "looking for a WR" for that money?

Thanks Coxy, that helps some.

Only one real mention of how the diff's behave respectively.

Lots of discussion of the "Symphony" of each engine/exhaust combo.
