Default quattro rolling road, drive train loss ?

Evening all,
Just had Goldie on the rollers at AVA for a tune up and check,
She managed a decent 112bhp at the wheels,
but does anyone know what that would be in fly wheel hp ???

Chap at AVA said prob 140bhp but it would be really nice to know from someone who has worked out the real drive train loss.

cheers

Conventional wisdom is about 20/25% Drivetrain loss on a quattro. I'd guess first generation quattro will be towards the higher end of that. Slightly surprised the rolling road didn't capture this on the wind down after the run, as most do.

Not cheap ! £100 for a 1.5hr session,
After 2 runs we found out the car was almost perfect and I had set it up well, I am cuffed that I had done all the tuning in the driveway using my ears nose and a gas tester
Running 110bhp at the wheels.

Allan (AVA) couldn't really recommend any instant improvements (apart from a turbo !) although I really went to him to re-assure my self she wasn't running lean at the top end.

She was running a bit rich at high rpm at just under 12, air fuel ratio but Allan said even if it was 12.5 there would be no power real power gains.

So fueling was good, so we had a go a timing, fist we advanced and lost power, then we retarded, again small power loss.
So back to the original mark but a very small amount advanced this time and we got another 2hp, woop woop. Sorry no timing figures as the marks on the fly wheel wear taken of when it was lightened.

All in all, a good day really, torque and power curve were constant until we go past 5000rpm when the power soon falls off quick, need a decent cam shaft to to this mes thinks

Isimmo, Both diff locks were on (and working) during the runs, do you think this would make any difference to the final drive loss ?

No.... Not unless the rolling road simulates going around corners...

I've only got a full set of 6x14 ronals spare at 4x108, but you can have them (as in FOC) if you need them.
