oil warning light!

Hey! Anyone encounter this-oil pressure warning light comes on in my 1986 coupegt1781sometimes whilst in motion, although guages say there is oil pressure. Do the sender units malfunction eventually i wonder? I think it would be wise to investigate this first - what does anyone else think? Thanks!

yes m8 i did on my 1995 audi quattro ur , first check the wire to the oil sender light, making hopeful good contact, if this is not the problem, the then you need a new sender like i needed for the guage , so try quattro corner ask for peter reeves he a fgreat guy and willing to help you

Have you actually checked the oil level?

Mine would buzz when the oil was low, when going round right hand bends or "cresting" a hill.

Then check either oil pressure or senders/warning relay - light goes on if oil pressure in iddle is below 0,5 bars or below 1.8 bars from 2k rpms upwards for some seconds - sounds like u have some sender malfunction or low oil pressure.
Some nine months ago my engine lost more than liter of oil, which went to cooling system trough damaged oil cooler. I noticed it only because I once drove my car while engine wasn't yet warmed up and viscous oil motion in sump created 1,5 bar pressure drops [from 4 bar to 2 - 2,5], of course, noticable only by manometer. When engine warmed up, all was as usual, except oil level more than half liter below minimum
