Well, I live in London, there is no access to garage in 99% of cases, so don't really have a choice. But as you said, I would install a very good alarm system on my pride and joy.

It's an open invitation tbh parking anything on the street , classic or performance . Mine are all garaged and the van lobbed in front of the doors
What they don't actually mention is the buckets in the rs4 are discontinued etc but you can fit any buckets out of any vag shitter but not have the rs4 embossed on em and they are circa 3-4k . It's the usual stealers stuffing things up . A few would fit seats bought off eBay ( probably the original seats !) and keep their cars from what's been mentioning before on the forums , another option is pentagon supaglass on the windows too

They use it on fire engines to stop the glass getting smashed when bricked by yoofs amongst other things

I don't understand what and why are you guys over there paying for insurance - when anything happens, repair turns out too expensive to fix so the car has to be written off! Now I finally understood that it's rather good that insurers over here when repairing older cars are pressing on used parts - because they would get nowhere without them.

As for seat theft, it's ridiculous what kind of parts some maroons are stealing in UK. In this case there might be rather easy fix - some welds with MIG equipment - unless owners would begin to do that en masse and those thieves starts carrying battery powered angle grinders.

True but not in all cases, My old Audi A3 Tdi DSG was rear ended quite bad and book value was 7k but it cost the 3rd party insurance company £6,940 to repair it so they did.

But they should have drove it before getting the repairs done as in the accident whilst rear ended at 70MPH the impact pushed the car whilst stationary and smashed the gearbox.

Oh and that cost them a further 6K because the assessor was a right Co"Ky Cu*T giving it the Big I Am and it cost him his job.

Sorry just a rant

Fit a good alarm system properly with internal siren as well as external and they would have looked for easier pickings .
