Default in car cameras

Hi,

I do approx 30k a year, and see some right dodgy driving. My wife drives down back lanes to school every day and has lost 2 wing mirrors so far.

Anybody got any recommendations (£50 each, not a GoPro or a £200 specialist car camera) for an in car camera - ebay and amazon have too many to choose from.

Requirements:
Forward facing, stick to windscreen behind rear view mirror
12V powered (so I can route a cable behind the trim and have it powered up all the time)
Crash recording (ie keeps the recording if it senses a crash, and records GPS location)
Rearward facing too would be good
SD card
Useable at night.

Any thoughts?

Mobius action cam around 43 quid on ebay, hd with framerates of 30 and 60 fps, does loop recording also can do surveillence with the motion recognition firmware upgrade.

Ive been using one for a while now, no bigger than a packet of tic tacs, unobtrusive and works fine for me.
No screen so playback on pc only but still great.
Had a big bolt whack off the screen yesterday idebtified where it came from and which car kicked it up.
Cool.

make sure it's FULL HD and not HD only, for decent video quality. I'm using two cameras, front and rear.

I bought one of these about 10 days ago, and it was not good at all. I had an almost identical one last year which captured really sharp, clear footage, but it died. This one looks the same, but despite claims that it's HD, I suspect it wasn't. The footage was really grainy and I ended up having to ask for a refund.
It was £20.99 and they refunded me £18 and said I could keep the camera. Sounds generous except it saved them having to reimburse me for the return postage, so I've effectively got a crap dash cam that's borderline useable, for £2.99. You can't even make out registration numbers with it, whereas my last one, that wasn't HD, was so good you could easily see road signs and registration numbers etc.

There has been a mayor uproar in Belgium regarding bad drivers caught on dash cams recently and yesterday i got the same question from a colleague so i suggested him the following cam: Mio MiVue 338 HD
It's has got a special price in Belgium right now and is by far the cheapest price for this cam in Europe, only 66 GBP.

Check out this awesome review here, is a really good product in my opinion

How are your two cams powered?

I need a camera for our families cars... Pete gently ran into a woman in stop start traffic Las year, no damage to either car and as soon as she'd looked round and realised there was no damage she said he'd damaged her back and he heard this week the insurance had paid out and written off the car and of course Pete lost his no claims. apparently shed gone home and purposely reversed car into wall.......
I despise people like this as it puts all our premiums up. A camera would have saved the day...
