As long as it doesnt affect me!

Edit to add:
Surely all this is going to do is drive up the price of used cars pre 2001?

Great choice for us in Manchester, car tax increases or a proposed congestion charge of £30/week

What's wrong with the UK...?

We could sack 2million bureaucrats, put 25% VAT on everything, even Children’s books (so even thieving, tax dodging bastards have to pay, just to live), remove income tax, and do away with all this bureaucratic bullshit, ‘this band/that band’ I’m a poxy fairy and can make your life a fairy pain in the arse trying to work it out affair…

And just bloody tax us up front, square on, on anything ‘anybody’ spends (not earns, because that encourages fat lardy arses).

Cars?…. Bin the road tax down to £20 a year for vehicle licensing, lump it on the fuel… That way, even the road tax dodging scote’s still paying their dues. As will the millions of miles driven on UK roads by foreign registered Lorries and cars.

The idea of tax is to finance the merry-go-round of democracy….

It’s been turned into the last great sanctuary for lazy bureaucrats and ‘jobsafe’ for life…

Can I step off my soapbox now….?

Well said Ian, though the bar-stewards get more than enough 'tax' from fuel as it is.
I keep having an inexplicable desire to really mug myself when looking at some B6 S4's for sale at the moment. But you when you add up the tax, fuel etc and the certainty that further increases will no doubt come, it's a no brainer.

come on my son!!!!

WHAT A CALL... t.b.c

I agree, tax the richest and give the lesser well off a break!!

abolish road tax but thats about another 35 BILLION quid they would need to reclaim from somewhere else... you've guessed it FUEL prices will go mad, as if its not bad enough as it is.

DONT go to war just because Uncle Sam wants us to go... save a few quid there as well

see if they stoped trying to rule the world by going to war/developing weapons etc we would save a bloody fortune.

In the us they only get taxed on wages or stuff they buy (cant remember which think its income?)
Also stop paying for politically correct rubbish, its a waste of money and who really cares? im no longer allowed to call my traditional gypsy cob a gypsy cob now without being raceist, she has now got to be described as a vanner cob i mean come one how much money did that cost to come up with that? (dont tell them she is called Gypsy lol)

cut there wages and make them live in the real world for once

Trouble is the new rates have hit many 'ordindary' cars including many of the family saloons/people movers.
I have a 1.8 A4 saloon ( OK it's a quattro T Sport so weighs a bit more - but hardly a gas guzzler ) and it's an 'old' engine design but registered March 2004.
226 grms per kilometer
Due to new working conditions it is likely to do about 3-4k miles a year
Costs less to tax the latest 997
