Default Audi 90 brakes + locks

I've just bought a h reg 20v 90 it needs a couple of bits done before i can drive it though, so i have a couple of questions someone on here might be able to answer

firstly the previous owner broke the only key in the ignition (how i have no idea) will all the locks from a 80 coupe fit a 90 saloon (i'm bidding on a set on ebay).

The rear brakes are needing work it definitley needs disks and pads but i think it might need calipers as well as the handbrake binds on,
do calipers from any newer VAG car fit maybe from a A4 as i know all to well about the handbrake calipers on early 90s audis and vws and if i need to replace them i might as well fit better ones.

Hi there indrid, you could always try a locksmith to remove the broken key and they should be able to cut you a new key, i had a mates uncle do one for me a few years ago.

You should be able to get a new barrel for the car and then get a locksmith to re configer the door lock barrel to match

Thanks, I'll have a look once they arrive, might just be a case of putting them back on ebay though. unless i can use the internals of the coupe ones in the original barrels (i've rebuilt locks like that before on a vw but it was using parts from the same model) though they are probably different.

I saw the thread on audifans.net, you would have though the barrels would be the same on the saloon and coupe though.

Many years ago I had to replace the ignition barrel/steering lock on a car that had been stolen. I got one from a main dealer (based on the chassis number) and it came with a set of keys that also matched the door and boot lock. Silly question - hav you tried a main dealer?
