Default Collecting my UR next Wednesday...

Collecting my UR Quattro next Wednesday - can't wait! Just thought I'd share that.

A ton of work to be done - but that's half the enjoyment in my book!

Congratulations, not sure about the colour, but each to their own.

Hi Roger, I'm going to work out costs and timeframes for restoring it to it's factory white. My personal preference would be black but it would be nice to return the car to the way Audi intended it. All up in the air at this stage.

The difficulty is largely how well it was painted yellow, if it was stripped to the shell putting it back to a good standard will require stripping it again. The engine bay is the usual giveaway, if that is all yellow as well then it'll not be easy to paint it white. I'm assuming when you say white you mean Alpine White not Pearl White because that would cost a fortune. We did a bonnet for a client 18 months ago, blended 6 mixes of 'Pearl White' differing combinations of base coat and pearl and even when done it still appeared a tinge pink against the rest of the car.

Best of luck.

Hi Roger, I doubt I would go to that extent or indeed the cost - I need to work within budget as much as anything. The fellow selling the car had it on a jig so I assume the whole vehicle was sprayed - but I'll know more when I get the car back to my garage.

Congrats on the purchase. I've been chatting with Stu regarding the sale of this car. I'm one of the few on here who thinks it doesn't look half bad in the colour it is, so if it's a decent quality paint job I'd be tempted to keep it that way and spend the money on keeping the thing running!

As for Rogers point, mines a pearl UR and getting the paint to match is a bugger and a half! My bonnet is a sport quattro one and you can see it's not a 100% colour match, though it doesn't bother me too much as the wings are shot so that's what my eyes gravitate towards anywho!

He did mention a price that had been agreed, won't say on here as I'll leave that up to you but it's potentially a tad rich given the cars colour (thinking resale) and it's Cat C history?

Regards

Dave
