Default When does a car go from a bag of shit to a classic?

Just wondering as I drive up and down the motorway everyday and see endless amounts of new cars, but when you see something like an R reg Vauxhall Astra estate, you just think "what a bag of shit!". But, then I see a B reg Astra and think "oooh, that's kinda cool".
So when does a car go from being a bag of spanners to a cool retro ride?

Interesting question, i reckon for mainstream stuff, about seven to twelve years old is old shite, then if it's still around after that it gains a bit of kudos.

I have the same feelings about old buildings, when do they stop being crumbling old piles of shite, and turn into sites of historical interest. Roman ruins especially.

We had our RS2 insured under a classic policy 3 years ago when it was only 10 years old!

Most ppl will say, car older than 15 years is schrot not classic

Btw what does mean that "[letter] reg"? British can't change registration plates?

The letter means the year it was manufacured so for example if you have f 346 ocd the F denotes it was manu in 88/89 and yes you can change plates but you cannot make the car appear newer than it is.

That's stupid - letter that denotes year of manufacture coupled with option to change it I like the way how germans are doing Our neighbours lituanians did similar, only in combination "AAA 111", where second letter denotes city of registration - my LT reg [that's long story] B3 have "JLR" - registred in Klaipeda. Unfortunately, lituanians run out of letters "V", "K", "L" some years ago

About that "appearance" - I can make my 1986 B3 appear as 1995 B4, only needed some welding and painting
