Also the one's I've looked at on line quote 2 systems OBD11 and EOBD what are the systems. Thanks Andy

Vag com is the way to go for the vag cars, not expensive, the other 2 brands no idea, obd2 is the current standardised plug for all makes. I did see an obd2 reader in a Real supermarket in germany last week made by aeg for 69 euro, that i imagine will scan anything, whether it could erase codes or not i don't know that's probably where the more expensive kit comes in. Vagcom though is excellent had it for years now, if you are using it on older audi's you will need a 2 x 2 lead on the newer cars it's obd2

Thanks for that info. Just need to decide on a reader prices seem to start around £20 for something that I guess is very basic, may as well pay a bit more to get a better tester that can reset service intervals, and clear codes etc.

I would get my self a dedicated Vag Com scanner.....http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/VAG-Car-Di...item256b41b3bd..
And another scanner to cover non Audi/Vw................... http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Profession...item4ab2a57ef3 This way you have covered nearly or all makes. In no time you will recovered all the money you have spent......by doing a spot of diagnostic/reset for your neighbours and friends cars |

I have an ebay USB OBDII cable, paid around £5 and downloaded VCDS (vag-com).
It's a great bit of kit and very handy to have. This, combined with ross-teck wiki is all you need for diagnosing fault codes! |
