Default found a Euro '82 Ur stateside... wish me luck!

Going to see it tomorrow.. it's been sitting in a gas station just 40 minutes from where I live for some time and not advertised. It has a Euro VIN and an ODO that reads 53k miles so things are getting interesting... grey market! Price seems very cheap so I'm going to look at it very closely
here's the pic they sent oh boy...

good luck, low miles!

do 'normal' people know what this car is if they see it on the road, in NY for example? would the average joe or joelina know what it was?

No, not the average Joe. Car guys might know it. Some folks remember the coupe GT's and especially the 5000!
Down in PA is VAG central so I get a lot of looks driving my CGT down there. NYC is not much of a classic car town and I certainly won't drive a UR downtown! Well, maybe just once.
