I'd stick some pics up, good quality ones, if you want to elicit some fully informed help.
Scrapping the whole project shell for an another unknown quantity sounds a little extreme, and tantamount to making the same mistake twice.
And that's if you could find a complete shell, which has been rather difficult in recent years.

You''d be better spending money on your shell... You will find your going to probably go to the same effort whatever shell you get. Afterall, metal can always be replaced and it seems sacreligious to scrap a shell due to rust.

My shell has alot of rust/rot in places but if your serious about rebuilding a car from shell up then its something that comes with the territory i'm afraid.

PS. I am currently cutting up my CQ shell for spare panels for my shell. I will double check what I need but for a small fee to cover cutting bits out I can supply most areas needed. Shell is (bare the rear panel) pretty much rust free and was cut up due to rear quarter damage and the need for spare sections for my WR shell.

As Jay says, seldom will you gain by buying another stripped shell, after all, it's been stripped for a reason... Subframe mounts can be rebuilt... What man maketh, man can maketh again, so to speak.... But think carefully about what you want, if the shell is rusting through, it needs to be stored 'to the best of your ability', so in a building or covered, covered in waxoil or just soaked in rust-proofing type products. Don't worry if it's a pig to remove the stuff in a couple of years time, because however hard it is to remove, it's easier than repairing rampant corrosion.

Get stuck in and get it repaired!!!!
It feels daunting to begin with but once you get started it is quite therapeutic, and once you can see a large section that you have completed you can stand back and feel a huge sense of achievement!

Don't give up its worth the long haul!!!

Seconded! That area in the photo is a common one for rust.
Did both sides of mine there as it was holed so as brian says, get stuck in.

Cut the old rusty metal out and put the new repair sections in one at a time.
Start with a small repair first until you gain experience and confidence.
