Default best small (1.3L or less) car for economy/parts/frugalness. IYHO

budget less than £3000.

let the p*ss taking begin!

i'm being drawn to a dark side of motoring, only for the winter mind, until i take a 'proper' car to bits....and then put it back together again.

i'm being drawn to these, as a starting point, as i ran this brand for a loooooong time. never broke down, never broke anything, well apart from a couple of springs..()

what would/do you run, in this department?

right, better go take up satanism now.. bye bye.

does it have to be less than 1.3??

A friend of mine has a Seat Arosa.
V Cheap to run, v cheap to insure, rear boot space is zilch so you'll never get asked to take the car to go shopping in so even cheaper!!

arosa looks good! one that slipped the net. no need to be less than 1.3, i just reckon if i'm making myself suffer for a few months... i better suffer! lol! fuel would be the main thing, i'm thinking of it as a 'carbon offset scheme' .....

the less power it has, the more i will pull my finger out to do a proper job on the turbus.

i have had a seat.... and i've had a daihatsu (still got it! nowt wrong with it, it just looks a bit tired)

the seat turned into a ball of fire one day, the daihatsu didn't...

Winter car FOR SALE..... ok it's not a 1.3 but hey ho!
A mate of mine is selling this;-

Subaru Legacy 2.0 estate.Y registered.
Getting MOT'd today
Has 11 months tax
Met.blue with a few age related dents but a good looking car
Has 4 winter tyres fitted
Has Cibie Oscar driving lights on the front (melts the snow!?)
Aprox 130k on clock
Has been regularly serviced and is a dependable workhorse
He's looking for 2k Car is located in Scottish borders.

You could get something like this and maybe loose a couple of hundred when you sell in the spring but at least you wouldn't have to worry about MOTing it or tax.

Just a thought,
would think the Daihatsu will be a reliable wee car as well mind you...

Ok for £3k you MIGHT be able to find yourself an A2 tdi. That'll give you quirky car ownership, amazing fuel economy 70+mpg on trips and almost guaranteed to suffer NO depreciation whatsoever!....
