apart from the gearbox being different, does anyone know if the linkages are differen ts also, it currently has a 4 speed and im thinking about converting to 5 any ideas?

I believe....... and I'm going from memory here (1992) the linkages are different and that you would be better taking as much as you can from the donor car or even buying a donor car so that a/ you can see how it looks and goes together b/ all the parts are there just waiting to be transposed.
It can be done and isn't that hard - only if you have all the parts to hand though. The old style MK2 passat had the same set up and gearbox should you get stuck .. Sorry I can't be of more help. ![]() |

My mechanic did it on my 1986 80CL.
You need: 5 speed gearbox The metal housing the gear lever pokes out of (as it needs to allow it to move to 5th gear position). Linkage from underneath, and gear stick. That's all.

sweet apparently the car has a bigger clutch in it? so that should be suitable.

1.6 is a 190mm clutch.
80 Sport is 210mm.
