Default possible job offer :?

looks like i may be working in Ayrshire at the end of April,

not 100% on wether to take it yet, but it looks like it may be the only pipeline job of the year, many of you guys up around that area?

as i will be working away for 28 days then coming home for 4 days, then back for 28 etc, for about 5 months

the money isnt normally what i work for, but there is a shortage of work this year, unsure wether to hang on for something a little more local or just jump in on this one

problem is my wife is due in July, and on the lead up over the next few months i will only see her 3-4 days a month ,

BUGGER!

at this rate i will be taking the Kamei, as its proved to be more reliable than my 2001 discovery, (currently stuck on the drive with another problem, siezed rear brakes)

no....

just no dude.. she'll need you there. i'd do anything but leave during a time like that. i'd do anything just to keep the c.v. going? even volunteering to a worthy cause for a wee while? it all counts!

no work in inspecting windmills..? sorry, turbines. damn things are going up by the hundred all around us at the moment.

go now if needs must, missing bits of pregnancy would be sad, but nothing compared to missing the birth and the early months.

Got to be honest and say no to.

I was offered a job in 1990, rigging out diving vessels and submersibles. It would have meant working up in the North pole, Africa, Oz, Belgium, States. 3 months away, 2 weeks at home and 2 weeks in the workshop then off again. £100 (and that was 21 yrs ago) a day in your hand when working out of the country. I had 2 young boys 4 and 2 and my daughter was due in the April. It was not an easy decision as It sounded very exciting and fantastic money. But being a family man and not wanting to miss out on my kids I turned it down. The Company were very suprised.
But you have to make your own decisions in the end. Discuss it with your wife and family and see what they think. It's something I've never regretted tho. Good luck in whatever you decide

just had a word with the wife about it (on the phone as currently in dorset working for her dad) , shes not keen on the idea mostly due to the money lol, however its also going to start on our 1st wedding anniversary which is a bugger , as last year my job started the day after my wedding so i couldnt go on a honeymoon

will hopefully get some more accurate figures within the next few days, but i may ask the boss if anything else is in the pipeline over the next few months which will be a little closer to home

my problem is , i dont want to piss the boss off about not taking work when it is quite scarce :?
