Tom Hammonds when he was sprinting 44WMN. Both went to Dialynx. Not sure if the green one is still with them but 44 WMN now in the capable hands of Steve Perez VK Vodka magnet in Chesterfield.

I went to purchase a seat from Demon Tweeks a couple of weeks ago and the guy who helped me make an informed decision was well into Hill Climbing and knew the 'Late Great Tom Hammond' quite well. He said that technically, he wasn't such a brilliant driver, but the brute force and ignorance of his Sport and S1 E2 won through on the day. He said that whenever Tom turned up, he was undoubtably the order of the day with his Audi's. And in relation to his Malachite Green Sport, Dialynx reckoned that his was the highest mileage Sport that ever was!

This is Andy Krink's claim to fame. Taken at Barbon Hill Climb circa 1997 /1998. The E2 looks nice and shiny then, compare it with the bottom photo when it was sitting in Sooties workshop a few years ago.

I took these in 2006 when the car was awaiting restoration as the shell was very badly stressed.

Notice the gear 'gate' in this shot so Tom could not 'miss' gears on his frenetic runs..

And after a bit of resto work. I took this in 2008.

All Sooty's quattros were bought as a job lot by Audi Tradition and taken back to Ingolstadt. As far as I'm aware Tom's went aswell.

Some were on display as part of a Group B exhibition in the Museum the year before last.

Some more piccies where those came from:

Thank goodness 44WMN escaped, or we probably wouldnt have ever seen it being driven in anger ever again!
