Default New Engine or cut my losses?

Fellas,

I have a 1995 Audi Coupe 2.0i and the engine has just gone for a burton. Completely knackered.

Now, my dilema is, do I get another engine for it (total cost of engine and installation about £800) or do I scrap it and get another car?!?

I have spent some money on it (about £600) for new brake discs / pads, lowered suspension etc.

Is it worth persevering or should I cut my losses and try to get the other stuff transferred over to another motor?!?

many thanks

Mark

Hi
how many miles has the coupe done, Has it been reliable other then engine, do you like the car, You say you spent £600 on brakes and suspension. How's to say that if you do get another car that the engine won't go BANG then your in the same perdicument and it all starts again.

Find another similar car for £800-£1000. Then keep the other for spares. One good motor out of two and you are never off the road for any length of time.

Cheers fellas,

Thing is - I don't know a great deal about cars and what sort of nick they should be in after 15 years!

Mine has done about 115,000miles to date and hasn't been too bad. Got the usual list of stuff from the MOT, but nothing drastic.

I did see this one on autotrader - http://www.autotrader.co.uk/classifi...ge/1?logcode=p

which appears (in the pics at least) to be slightly better body work than mine. Thoughts were to possibly get that one - which is 2.3, so slightly swifter - and get the parts off the old one before scrapping it!

Cheers for that quattrokid,

Very tempted - look in good nick. But, having thought, I always intended to spend some money on the motor - just not quite this soon! As I've spent the cash on brakes and suspension, it would cost me even more to have them refitted to another motor.

Think I'll go for the new engine option.

So the next question is - does anyone know where I can get a 2.0i ABK engine from!?!?!

i think Creag has new brake discs and suspension bits for the red ne but not fitted yet. I'd call him before you start looking for engine replacements.

IF you need engines try All Audi in Bristol
