Default 1.9tdi exhaust gas recirculation delete

Has anybody on here tried an EGR delete kit on a 1.9 tdi. I was wondering if it is worth the bother, also i'm thinking of a de-cat??? any advice would be much appreciated. Daz

This is on a 1.9 TDi PD engine? Yes... Went through the procedure on VAG-COM to disable it, then went to the dealer and got the "updated" copper gasket (blank, with no holes... Told them I'd drill it out myself) and fitted. Simple job for anyone handy with a socket set and some spanners.

No brainer mate!!!, Decat and EGR blank, took off inlet manifold and soaked it for a week in the degreaser in work ( i had a spare!!) 10 mpg round town straight away!! car was far livlier and boost kicked in earlier (A6 2.5 tdi 220 k at the time)
90% of the modern car faults i see are EGR related, had a golf in recently that was so down on power it was undriveable - the inlet manifold was so coked up, as in over 1/2 its diameter, it was cheaper for the customer to have a new one fitted and blank the EGR off!!!!
Vauxhalls that constantly flash the EML and stall coming up to junctions are cured completely by making up an EGR blank- after a customer had paid them out twice for new ones in as many years, we fixed it with an offcut from steel gasket from a now deceased british car company that had problems with head gaskets!!

Well by coincidence, I made a blanking plate and fitted it today and was pleased with the result. Better throttle response and seemingly a slightly better mpg. Took me 20 minutes to make and then fit the blank!
