Thumbs down Complete Idiot

I have today, after work, been to collect an ice cream freezer from Birdlip in Gloucestershire. On the way back i stopped at the Shell garage at Brockworth just near to junction 11A on the M5. I fueled up, went and grabbed a butty and a bottle of coke and paid my tab. Leaving the pay area back onto the forecourt was a rather tasty looking brunette with a nearly new Lupo GTI. To say I could not believe what I was witnessing was understating it a bit but she was leaning against the car, happily putting a good glug of unleaded into the tank and blissfully talking away on the mobile phone with the other hand! Having witnessed someone burn to death a few years back I literally leaped into my car and fled the scene, horrified and stupified. When the fu*k will people learn.

I did that about 18 months ago and the attendant shouted over the tannoy to tell me to get off my mobile now as it's a fire risk. never done it since!

Dont start me..... a couple of years ago i was doing a test on a site, around the base of one of the pumps was a load of sand. Wouldn't think too much of that normally probably just a spillage but, when i took the covers off one of the meters was leaking badly on the unleaded not good. At this point you look down too see the floor is very wet and it's all spirit, I had to take the pump out of action so was showing the site manager the problem when, a car pulls up next to my cones and says the usual "is this working". No i replied, and asked him to put out his cigarette !!! so he threw it out the window ! not great when your stood in a pool of unleaded.

but the phones are not explosive there is more chance of a static shock of your car making you explode . They ban mobiles because they interfear with the radio signals from the pump to the bloke behind the desk. ( sorry about spelling etc im poo at it.)

Mythbusters tested the theory of mobile phones and fire whilst fueling and couldn't get a reaction at all, but in true mythbuster style created an explosion just for the sake of it anyway.

What radio signals ? there's no radio signals from a dispenser to a kiosk. All the data is wired. The only radio signals common on a forecourt are isotrack for the tankers to do unassisted delivery.

Phones are banned, as anything within a 4m radius of a spirit pump is classed as a hazardous area. All equipment used in a hazardous area has to have been type approved and must display an, ex, or atex reference number on the equipment.

I kind of thought it was something to do with that, I know when I have my diesel delivered at work ( 36,000litres every two weeks ) the tanker drivers tell some tales of people who really ought to know better.

i was just trying to say using a mobile at a pump (not that i would do it) but the chances of the petrol going up with a mobile are well slim. an there is more chance winding up your window, doing up your flys or your casio time piece alarm going of etc at the pumps to make you go boom, boom.
but yeah back to the thread .]
but yeah sorry for earlier comments as i always laugh when i read threads etc with people saying diffrent things an i am a sorry .
but no but yeah but sorry . i should have said it a bit better.
