Just wondering this s6 i've got i dont think has had a wash, polish for a heck of a long time.Lots of ingrained shit stuck to paintwork is clay bar best product to remove said muck? Also who makes the best one? The paint in places feels quite rough, just given her a wash and did not see a lot of difference hmm wear and tear i'd say.The car has been looked after mechanically but not in the body dept,so what you reckon folks?

perhaps the single best thing I did to mine was to clay it. Highly reccomended. I just used a Mequires kit.

Coxy clay'd my beetle after it had got covered in fall out from the shot blaster at work, nothing else touched it but clay bar removed it all and left a nice smooth finish. I would highly recommend it

conclusive, Meguairs claybar kit has worked very well for me, but your arm will fall off by the end of the day. Try a mild scratch remover afterwards then lump on the waxes, Collinite i have found is fantastic and holds the shine for months.
Warning, same size as my s4 avant, its like cleaning an aircraft carrier, takes ages.

Been looking at the paintwork close up with a bright light, all i can see is hundreds of fine scratches ,gonna be a job sorting out. Will one claybar kit be enough to do whole car?

The kit I got had 2 small bars,I only used one and I think I can use it again?Just remember to keep the surface wet, with the spray.
Does take awhile,but well worth it.Don,t forget to wax,afterwards. You,ll have arms,like Popeye. ![]() |

just remember 3 things when claying your cars paint:
1) Lube 2) More lube 3) Even more lube! If you don't keep the paint lubes you will marr the paint. |

Can only echo whats been said already.
If you can pick up a clay bar with no lube, and just use water,it will obviously save you money The Megs Kit from Halfrauds is more than adequate though. I was always told to only do about a 12 inch squared patch at a time,or you'll miss bits and it can get a bit headfuck!! Nowt like a freshly clayed car. ![]()
