Default Bit gutted!

Not great day today!

I've had an issue with me eyes for a while that the hospital have been looking into (excuse the pun).

After several months of pretty nasty tests and meets with LOADS of opthalmic bofins they have decided that I have a gentic malfuntion that means the photoreceptors in my eyes get deposits built up that damage them. This means my already affected vision cannot be repaired after they told me it could, albeit with fairly invasive surgury.
Turns out my vision is going to get worse and within 2-20 years (good window there - sounds like an Audi dealer diagnosis) I will almost certainly lose it all together. I am hopeful that they eventually come up with a gene therapy that atleast stops the degrading but not best happy at minute!!!!

Gutted for you Ben, really hope those surgeons and boffins manage to come up with something to cure the problem. Eye treatment has come a long way over the past 20 years, hopefully they will be able to do something for you.

Never say never

Sorry to hear that Ben, keep trying to find a cure/operation even if it means going abroad for treatment.

All the best
Rod

That's right mate. Looking in to it they are working on gene threapy but are a way off yet! Just hope the vision hangs on until this happens, then I can get it stopped!

It affects the centre of the vision first then leaves the periphery for a while.

There's some clever people about and technology moves soooo fast I'm hopeful they come up with something!

Don't know what to say Ben, times like these words just don't seem adequate. Finger crossed a cure comes along for you. It is amazing how fast medical cures develop these days.
