I agree.I changed the ATF on my last car every 10k and added the excellent Lubegard additive. It makes your box run with 38% less friction and up to 20% cooler. This Lubegard does also extend the life of your ATF but I pampered that car.And......on a car where boxes only usually last 90k,mine recently started slipping in 2nd at 129k.

Yes,I used to use Mickys method of topping up atf.If it has been overfilled, which is quite easy to do,then it could have blown seals from someones previous mistake. If you overfill, just drain immediately until at correct level.

There is usually one,but on some cars two, filters which need to be cleaned with alcohol solution when changing fluid.

The main killers of Auto Boxes are heat and dirt.Heat is mainly caused by old or low ATF,but they run at high temperatures anyway. You can keep it clean and frsh using the ideas Ive given.Use these methods, and if you have a good Autobox to start with,it'll be less maintenance long term than a manual.

get back on topic!

He's broken my bloody car. It was making a perfectly acceptable "graunching" noise when I sold it to him (for £1 - which he never gave me!).

I would say scrap the barge, after removing some choice bits.

Now, do I get it towed to the farm storage place (where the 100 turbo is) or get it towed to my house and really annoy Mrs PD???

The box kicked down fine, changing up at 7000rpm.

Still, it means I won't have to mend the heated rear window switch, or the heater fan!

BTW you can't change the diff oil easily as there is no drain plug!
