Exclamation WTB: Audi A5 3.0 TDi quattro

Hi all,.. I've been concidering getting an Audi A5 3.0 TDi quattro recently.

Would rather buy from a forum member with some reputation than an unknown ebay/gumtree seller.

Still under concideration at the moment, but just curious if anyone happens to have one they might consider parting with?

And if it has some performace mods.. all the better

Cheers.

A friend is selling his A4 3.0tdi quattro saloon, it's relatively low mileage as he hardly uses it, it's silver(are they all silver?!), has leather etc, he's put bigger wheels on it I think(off an A6 maybe?). Not sure of age though as he put another plate on it, can find out though.
Car on Edinburgh outskirts.
It's a nice car, I'd have it by now if it'd been an estate.

….it's an auto.

I had one of these several years ago. It was a 240hp tiptronic version.

Have you driven one. I'd suggest doing that first.

I was thinking of getting a manual. Not a fan of Autos

Why do you say that about driving one? I'd certainly like to give one a test drive first, see what I think of it. I was thinking of getting it tuned up to 300-400 bhp.

Are A5 3.0L tdi Quattros not nice to drive? Even as manuals?

I have a 2010, A5 3.0 TDI quattro sportback, it's manual i sometimes get caught out by the clutch, it's the DMF bit of it i think, otherwise a very nice car travel 14k in mine since June, very happy with it.

When looking for one i would make sure it has the options you want as some are low spec. and don't even have hands free ... . If an Auto, proof that the gearbox oil has been changed every 38k

Thought it was poor to be honest. Not that economical and not massively quick. They are big heavy cars

Manuals stopped in 2013.

Dsg started in mid 2010

Facelift cars have electric steering and itís not as nice as the earlier hydraulic cars

Mine will do 45 -50 mpg, if your not doing short journeys and don't drive it hard all the time

Poor driving experience? Or poor performance?

As standard they are supposed to be 245bhp ish and 0-60 in 5.9 seconds.
That's faster than anything I've had before.. and surely even better once it's tuned to 300bhp or even 400hp?

Can't be that bad can it?

And Im only really interested in the cheaper first gen cars. So hydraulic steering it is.

Not bad. How many miles do you usually get from a full tank ?
I've got an 04 ZS TD as a daily at the moment and apparently 600 miles is possible. But it usually goes down to 450 miles with my heavy foot

Early cars are 240ps which covers most manuals.

I didnít like it. Got a petrol now which is only a few mpg less but I much prefer it.

I never managed 500 miles from a full tank. A trip to Dover topped out at 490ish
