Default Ashtray assembly

The cigarrette lighter socket in my B3 90 20v has had it and I need to replace it. Trouble is that I can't see how it comes out of the centre console without removing said console and the Haynes manual doesn't help much.
Is there an easy way to get at the ciggy lighter because when we're touring, I use that socket to power the phone charger, Sat Nav, car fridge, etc. In fact everything except the ciggy lighter!

Is the lighter inside the pull out ashtray? If so pull the ashtray out as far as you can, it should reveal an 8mm nut you can undo. This will let u take out the black plastic surround and lighter socket. The whole ashtray can be removed by taking off the heater knobs, undoing the 2 phillips screws, taking off the faceplate revealing 2 more phillips screws underneath.

If you have the 3 supplementary gauges the lighter socket is pushed into the floor console? In which case 3 8mm bolts hold it down, one by the handbrake and 2 under the rear ashtray (pulls out)

You forgot that this type of ashtray is also held by two 8 mm bolts, deep inside that bin/tray/whatever which is below ashtray

Yes, the lighter is in the ashtray directly beneath the heater controls.

Thanks, chaps. I'll take a look when it stops raining.

Got it out exactly as described although that set screw was a bugger to get out of its slot even with jewellers' fine nosed pliers.
New one awaited from the Bay as I type.
Thanks for the guidance.
