Default 1984 coupe gt on the road at last

hi all ,,,at long last its on the road 14years since last used ,2yrs I spent putting it back togather, going well ,infact im quite impressed with the performce just 115bhp from the fuel injected 2ltr 5pot but weighing around 950kg she blows must run of the meal cars away from the lights , then I just slow down as ive made my point . it amazes me just how many cars seem to want to race me , so im just doing the polite thing and blow them away . Also impressive shes very economical. im thinking of modding or changing the exhaust system , as I would like to here a bit more of that 5pot burble .I could slice open the silencer and remove some wadding , wanted to here from others that already have a after market system , which is the best sounding and prices ect , or do I just mod what I have

Nice one & the 2.0 JS engine is one of the best 5 cyl’s for performance and economy

I've got an aftermarket exhaust on my 90q 20v. It was made by BN Pipes in Germany.

It wasn't cheap but bolts straight on and sounds superb. Not too loud and when on cruise, it's not bad at all. A nice burble at idle.

They make one for the Coupe GT

On my old Coupe (JS engine 2.0 10v), I had a rear box delete. I found it to be the perfect volume and quite a deep sound which was exactly what I wanted. This mod was recommended to me years ago by Adam at AM cars (quattro specialist). Just about to do the same on my current Coupe

I’d suggest ear defenders...

Have been tempted to buy this fox rear box. Does anyone know how much silencing they have? I want a bit of volume

EDIT: have just had a price back from long life, £179 for a custom rear box delete with twin tail pipes

Be careful, a NA 5-pot can produce a LOT of resonance, the 3” single on the KV was best described as unliveable even for a rallyrep. The noise (and it was an noise’) at part throttle was a raspy farting. At WAT it was okay especially at rpm (the engine had a high lift camshaft) but as soon as the 20vT went in it made sense.... I’d suggest keep the 2.5” rear and front boxes and lose the middle silencer...

Thanks guys , after just completing the cars first decent road trip 300miles round trip , car didn't miss a beat I may just leave the exhaust standard [for now ]as it still has a nice little burble, also I work nights and my wife tells me it still sounds meaty enough to wake her early in morn when I return from work . on the trip I took her steady 60-70mph for first 150 miles ,on return trip speed to 60- 80 , and a fair bit faster going down one nice hill . Now need to sort out the little faults , no dash or centre consul clocks lights, no rad temp on dash, no heater fan , both doors hard to open from outside ,sort of got to push the handles welsts pulling to open ,central locking stopped working
