Default A4 Tie rod

OK so not a classic but anyone tried to remove one of these blighters. Had an hour on my Mum's A4 as the boot had completely gone and managed to slacken the lock nut no problem but the threaded section into the steering rack would not budge no matter what got thrown at it, torsion spray, blow lamp, brute force and verbal abuse...
Any ideas as her MOT is coming up soon and trying to avoid expensive garage bills.
