Jukka

I am sorry for the sad loss of your friend.
These 2 cars will be a fine tribute to him.
I am sure that everyone will be happy to provide what assistance they can.
Good luck.

It is nice to find so good Audi site. Thanks to Kari Mäkelä and John Hanlon.
My name is Jukka Suvisalmi and I have now these AUDI 200 Q in Finland. I actually have known them for many years. My good friend, Esa Saarenpää had "fingers" on with these Audi 200. Esa didn’t own these cars but his best friend Timo Viitala did. Their first idea was to change a new body from a street car to this "rally project" and destroy these two chassis. I make them to change the plane and make them understanding for the unique history of these cars. Cars have been storage for many years, waiting for rebuild.

Suddenly our friend Esa Saarenpää died 23.04.2009 and everything goes down.
After a few months for that, Timo and I discus for these project’s and what to do with them.
After Esa and Timo understand the fantastic history and ID, Esa always say "It must be rebuild". That is what we are now doing.
So we make a deal, Timo and me.
I bought these AUDI's from Timo and restored it. First we spoke only for the Ex.Röhl but I thing we do bought for these cars, if we can find missing parts to Ex.Armin car too.
So that is a short story from these AUDI's history and from that project.
I hope you go to my website and see a little story one of the best AUDI driver ever in Finland (after H.Mikkola) Esa Saarenpää. http://www.g-forum.net/articles/esa.html

So now I am collecting all info what is available from AUDI 200 Quattro cars.
Photos, details and so one…
I am going, with Timo to visit Audi Museum in this weekend 9-11.10 to see some cars and to buy some books.
The rebuild start after I get my ALPINE 110 redy. Maybe at the end of 2010.

All help is very well come and all ready a big thanks to Stefanie and Franz Lang.

Thanks to you all and have a nice weekend.

Jukka and Timo

Just found this site.

I hope that we can see these 200 competition cars in the UK sometime, maybe at Race Retro?

Whilst we are on the subject of rally 200 quattros I have found this. An Audi 200T quattro appeared on the RAC Rally as recently as 1995. From the entry list:

Number : 118
Entrant : PAUL COOPER (GB)
Crew : Paul Cooper/Roger Mallalieu GB/GB
Car : Audi 200 Quattro 2144t
Class : A/8 a

Not sure where they finished. I wonder who built that car & what happened to it?

Why do I find this strange, well it wasn't well known as a clubman car and the works only used the car on the 1988 RAC, I think, & stopped using it altogether in 1989.

Also, not a rally 200 quattro but interesting nevertheless:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xclmw...eature=related

Some more digging reveals that it has run 11 times at the Nurburgring 24 hour race. It didn't always finish but its best result was 11th overall in 1999. Awesome. Started out life as a Directors car at Audi, apparently, & was then converted to a Group N spec car in private hands. Finally developed into a Group A type car with 450 Bhp MTM 5 cylinder turbo engine, DTM V8 suspension and 18 inch wheels.

Apologies if this is considered "off topic".

When you say 'works' car on the 88 RAC do you mean Schwarz's 200 ? As 200 HMN did not make it that late on into 88.
