Check out Hormann garage doors, they are not cheap but you get what you pay for. Insulated and draft proof I couldn't be happier with mine.

I assume there is a means of accessing the garage if all goes wrong?

It's all manual, no more prone to failure (lock mechanism is similar in design) to an up & over.
