Pristine Wheels
Ok, so I’ve been a bit out of the loop for much of the last three years, and have clearly missed a lot of info...
I was making some inquiries of Pristine Wheels; to date, the only company that had reliably refurbished and correctly painted any R8 wheels for the quattro. ie. painted to Zermatt Silver, and not some generic bland silver. It seems Pristine ceased trading in 2019. But it also seems that elements of it may still exist. Or is it a case of people using the same name, to tag on to their reputation?

If it's just painting that is your primary requirement, then i have previously just provided a decent sprayer with a litre of Zermatt Silver and received excellent results. If however you are looking for powder coating in Zermatt then that may be more difficult.

I’m actually in need of proper refurbishing, and finishing in paint. I’m not in the UK much, so I really need a leave and forget type of service.
Most refurbishers are little more than quick tart up and bling merchants. Pristine did a damned fine job. What a loss if it’s the case.

I used Pristine Wheels years ago when I first had the wheels refurbished on my cq. It was done via a local motorsport / tuning company, not directly with Pristine. They were very good, but that kind of wheel takes a lot of keeping clean, and they soon got dirty again to a point where they needed a repaint. I ended up just doing quick resprays in spring as it worked out quicker that cleaning them properly through winter.
I hadn't realised they'd gone, but I haven't been looking and there's a lot of competition in that market now. |

3 years since I used them, time flies! service was slick and the workmanship was outstanding, was more than happy with the job they did on my 4 Ronal aeros, and still am. A real shame if they are no more, would have used them again in a heartbeat.

As soon as I got a spare set of wheels, I stopped looking for people to do it for me, so I don't have any details to post unfortunately. I was thinking of the places that have these large wheel lathes to re-face the alloy - I figured that with so much investment in tooling like that, they must surely know how to use it. Or is that a false assumption, as I hear it is about laser four-wheel alignment places?
Even for my "modern" I have a spare wheel and tyre so I can paint one at a time. I don't fancy paying the price (and I'm not sure how much people charge now) because I'm almost certain to scrape them at some point and have to pay again. DIY at least I can do it for the cost of the paint. |

They went because they were too expensive. Ive used them in the past, about 12 years ago, great job, but when they quoted me a few years ago £80 ontop of the refurbish to put the tyres back on and balance, that was taking an already expensive job "with them" to ridiculous levels.
Keep up you Audi tarts. |
