Had it confirmed now with Bilstein themselves, there is variations of the B4 and they are essentially the same item, though there is dimensional differences.

Using a standard B4 shock with effectively stock sport springs (~30mm lower than standard) will result in the shock wearing out faster. So, for standard height use B4 model 16-031319 and if on sport springs 21-030444 is the one you want.

Failing that get a B6 as previously mentioned

I'm slowly overhauling my suspension.

I've recently;y had a good clean of the wheel arches and suspension just to give me a better idea of what everything looks like down there. I've noticed that the ride is very wobbly and it appears that the shocks have had it. New front shocks ordered.

I've watched a couple of videos on the replacement process and it all seems straight forward. Is there anything I need to be aware of when changing the shocks?

The hardest part is getting the cap nut that holds the insert in the shock tube off - it's almost always rusted on and it's a high torque.

Plenty of fluid first (I've started using diesel to soak things lately)
Then have the strut tight in a vice and use a big pair of stilsons and some scaffold pipe.
I've had ones off that looked like they'd been in the sea
And be careful if you turn the strut upside down once the shock is out.
Been a few times lots of greasy dirty water has tried to give me a bath
