Ha...i remember paying 38p a litre in 1984 with my first car.

Bang on...... it was 2000 and i'm sure it was because fuel had reached a pound a litre.I remember going to at least 4/5 garages before i joined a better que to get just a few gallons so i could go to work.People power does work when they are angry enough.

I try and take a pragmatic view on things and a pro article by business luminaries show how thick they can be sat in their offices

Who are you trying to convince?

As I stated before, with Oil revenue staying in scotland with a population a tenth of the UK how could we possibly be worse off, The remainder of the UK would lose that revenue, surely that means the UK would have been worse off? No?

The point I think he was trying to make was the comment stating that oil prices will continue to rise therefore more money for Scots when in actual fact the price has crashed since the article was written!

The fuel price going over the £1 per litre in 2000 resulted in the farmers and truck drivers having a protest and hence the national "Go Slow Campaign" bringing the UK to a virtual halt.

And bravo to them as the government did announce a freeze on fuel duties.

Yup, small independent garage in Brum has dropped his petrol to 99.9p in one of his stations but is maintaining 104 at his other three.

So, a guy who owns just four petrol stations can undercut the big petrol stations and supermarkets.

The big boys must be too busy going "kerching kerching kerching" to drop their prices.
