Alarm specialist, Kent?
Dear all,
All the best for the new year. Can anyone point me in the direction of someone they'd recommend to remove an old immobiliser from my WR ur q? It was one of the Thatcham spec 90s era units that insurance co insisted on in 1993. Think it's 3 point immob. It's always been fine but after quite a bit of recent work, has gone wonky. This means it has quite a habit of now immobilising at any time even whilst driving! Thwarting Xmas period running time sadly Needs a bit of skill and care to remove. Cheers |

Cheers. There are some firms around here but anyone with a personal recommendation would be good. The trim and loom are a bit delicate under the steering column as you know. I'll probably strip the trim myself so there's less risk

if its functioning, but doing some odd shit, I'd suspect a bad joint. Then I'd suspect every joint to be bad.
For some unknown reason, there was little emphasis in actually having any knowledge with basic electrical work for installers. my personal approach runs to- 1. find the installed mess, and find out if it just looks bad, in which case fix the bad joints 2. remove it all sadly, i feel nothing much has changed. removers may well be the same class of installers.

Sadly I concur. Many of them chuck the cable and connectors in and fix the trim back hoping you never see the birds nest 'artistry'.
I'll give it a go myself and see if I can fully immobilise it |

I recently had various bits of the dash apart on my 80 Sport ( tracking down the non indicating indicator ).
I found the immobiliser ( about 1992 era as well !) and although reasonably fixed the terminals were not that great and there were small bits of bare wire/strands in places. I remade a couple of connections then re-wrapped all the connections with self sealing electrical tape. |

Cheers Chris. I suspect I may find something similar. Not the day for it today however.
