Default Removing side trim on cq

Not having a clue about body work, if I remove all of the bump strips on the side of the car what would be the recommendedway of filling the holes prior to spraying?

And use heat to peel them off.....

I found with my old rally rep CQ that hay-bales were quite good at removing side trim...
