I thought I had posted those pics before but put them up anyway. I'll just blame your memory Mark

Back online now in wildest Weardale.

Here's one of the Spitfire as it was purchased, having been trailered home from a barn (literally, it was being kept in a barn, partly disassembled and incomplete) in Gravesend in 1995.

1966 Spitfire 4 mkII.

And a couple from 9 months later.

This was my daily driver for 5 years, when stripping it to bare metal, it was previously white and before that it was originally green. Managed to establish it was Triumph Conifer Green, one of only 7 colours for that year.

It came with a factory steel hardtop, also had a mk3 bonnet fitted (square sidelight/indicator) that I converted back to correct round Lucas spec. All new boot floor, rear valance, floorpan, interior.

Luckily I lived about ¼ mile from a Triumph specialist who were able to supply me with loads of parts and a car to photograph for reference.

I've got loads of resto pics in a box in the loft at home but only these 3 in digital form.
Nice, 66 was a good year for sports cars.

I think we are all blessed with not having enough parking space, reality is if we had more we would only fill it with cars we can't afford, would never restore because we don't have the time and don't drive as much as they should be.

What is nice and refreshing on this site is a lot of us do have other car loves, desires and wants out side of the Audi passion, and will give other metalwork the time of day. One of the other sites I frequent the subject cars owners won't even mention or discuss other marquee, anything other is instantly dismissed as rubbish and crap.

Keep it up chaps, let's see some more along side the Audis.

Absolutely!
What a sad blinkered world it would be if we didn't have lusts for other makes/marques!!
I still have a passion for pick up trucks, mostly the Hilux (- how I met my wife) , Ford Capris and XR4x4s, ,and some Bmws; notably E34 models.....
Lovely work on the GT6

Well said David.

I've always had a thing for Audis having had a B2 coupé and 80 quattro many years ago, desperately hankered after a quattro since watching Group B tear through Hamsterley Forest in the middle of the night on the RAC Rally, but it's all part of a wider passion.

I've owned Beetles, Golfs, a MK1 MR2 T-bar, Alfa 147, Nissan Qashqai, 2 spitfires, just sold an A3 and currently have the Ur and a Hyundai IX35.
There's too much car snobbery about, a bit like it used to be with wine, I think your either a car nut or you're not, and us nuts just have an Audi preference.

When I'm back off holiday & have access to my old photos, I'll start a "Show us your car history in photos" thread, brief model details only, will show our diversity

Well said, one can have too many wrecks sitting about just languishing for years doing nothing. Thankfully there's a good few on here who will give other marques the time of day.

Keep up the good work it's looking fabulous, very much looking forward to seeing it sitting on those lovely wheels and hearing that famous Triumph straight six sound.

That would be great, a car history thread, hopefully some old sepia and faded photos, digital are great for quality and showing of detail but the old printed stuff has such a great aura and personality
