Default 80b4 heater demister switch not working

Hi guys just got an 80 b4 quattro 2.8 and the switch that turns the heater settings from demist to front or feet does not make any difference it just comes out the front how do I change the switch.

It's not a switch, the control uses a cable to turn a flap in the heater box, something's fell off or snapped. If you squeeze the glove box past it's stops, you can see the heater box.

Thanks mate I have a look today I also found this on Google search does this sound right for the switch removal thanks guys .

"Just pull the nobs off and you will find screws behind them, also screws behind the left and right air directors which you gently prise out to get at. Remove the bottom switch panel and find two more screws in a hole at each bottom corner. Then the whole central panel is free."

The one on the left is the airflow direction control as the piccie shows the controls upside down.

well I took the front off and got my hand round the back and wiggled that black cable and then sprayed wd40 all over the front and with a set of pliers gave the plastic knob a good twist. and vroom it turned so now I have full demisting capabilities fantastic.
