Default 1994 80 Distributor Required

Hey.

First up a quick hello! I've been very generously gifted a 1994 Avant 1.6 from a deceased gentleman's estate. It was parked up about a year ago when it would no longer go. The family called the AA whose roadside diagnosis was a kippered hall sensor.

Rather than mess about, I'd like to just drop in an entire replacement distributor. Getting the correct part number is proving a nightmare.

Does anyone have the Bosch code?

Some sites only have 1.8 and 2.0 listed, some have 1.8 Audis but 1.6 Seats on the same part and some say nothing is compatible.

I'd appreciate some help, we're just desperate to make sure it lives.

Not looking good.

050 905 237 X or 050 905 205 AQ, Bosch appears to be 0986237644

Doesn't seem to be available anywhere

That Bosch 098 number denotes that it's a re-manufactured/repaired part. The original would have a number beginning 027.

Even if I can't get hold of one, I really need that original 027 number - then someone like Powerspark can make a replacement kit for me.

I really need to get to the car but time just doesn't allow.

Any other ideas?

I found a new, equivalent Delco one, but it says phone to check stock: http://www.ignitioncarparts.co.uk/Pa...PDD7308&s_vid=

and a used one: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/AUDI-80-Av...oAAOSw0hlZOD0T

I got the part no's from here: http://www.vehiclepartsdatabase.com/...9/distributors

If you go for replacing the hall sensor, there are equivalent ones available for ~£20: https://www.ebay.co.uk/sch/i.html?_f...kz101&_sacat=0

Thanks for the help so far.

Sadly ignition car parts can't help at all, Powerspark can do nothing either.

This is proving incredible difficult, particularly when you consider it's a standard part from one of the most popular car manufacturers of a generation. I know it's not an 09 plate Mondeo, but I'm genuinely baffled by all of this.

Hunt continues.

The problem is you have the 1.6 engine, these were quite rare when new and so few cars have survived.Keep the faith something will turn up eventually just not when you want it to.

I highly doubt that it's the fault in first place - the engine management for this strange engine is not digifant, but something more sophisticated, using crank mounted 60-2 impulse wheel as engine speed sensor and single window dizzy hall is solely to identify first cylinder - I've seen similar B5 engine running just fine with dizzy hall sender dead, just having check engine light lit and rev limiter being enforced @ 5k rpm, likely due to less than ideal fueling, injectors being run in pairs, not in sequential mode.
