Motorsport cars of the day, in the year you passed your driving test?
32 years ago for me and these were the ones to be seen in, just before the revolution!

30 years ago for me in April, so it was quattro all the way, but personally I loved the rear wheel drive era, the late Roger Clark in his red Coassack sponsered RS1800 will always be one of my hero's, his autobiography was called "Sidways to Victory" Top man and gone too soon.

Early 1980 for me Steve, so the late Peter Brock at Bathurst in a Holden VB Commodore (I'm a dick cos I don't know how to post footage from YouTube via my iPhone).
Just type in 'Peter Brock Bathurst' and select the first clip to see the most amazing 11-10ths qualifying lap ever. |

love that clip serious amount of ex works cars in use by irish drivers back then and a lot not shown at all !! was talking to Brendan fagans brother a few times and im friends with him on f/book some great stories about rallying back then John lyons from up the road there too was another man that eventually managed to get a good car in the esort after trying many others including opel and fso lol ,, the escort at the time had an ex works engine that he was offered through ford at a knocked down price ,, Bertie fisher there too in the monte spec mk2 that was fairly useless on irish events and a handful for anyone who tried to tame it in ireland at the time , Donie Keating there too always had a great run in the chevette , and Ger Buckley a cousin of Billy Colemans i think was always a consistent performer too
