Default Gumtree

Who on here has had experience of using Gumtree for selling non motoring items?

What are they like, good, bad, better bet than ebay?

used it for a few years with no problems, I try to avoid doing some transactions at home as you don't know who is knocking at your door

Don't forget to put you phone number or email on the ad, some items don't have any contact details, which is handy

Have bought and sold quite a bit on Gumtree before. You can pick up some good bargains but the "if it sounds too good to be true then it probably is" saying is especially relevant for Gumtree IMO.

I have only really had problems selling electrical items through Gumtree, mostly time-wasters and fraudulent emails but there are also plenty of genuine people about. I would just advise being on your guard and it can be a free / very cheap ebay alternative!

Thanks Bruce.

Just read some of the less than favourable reviews on the net, and it seems to be okay if you're a buyer rather than a seller.

Why not you can always go back to ebay if it doesn't work out
