Question Warm starting annoyance..........

My car takes some persuading to start when warm, the vid below is actually fairly quick compared to how long I have to turn it over before it fires.

When cold, the starter barely turns before it fires.

Has this anything to do with the missing injector cooling fan the kv engine has?

This has bugged me from the day I bought the car, and have never got to the bottom of it yet

Mixture either too rich or too lean. That cooling fan is intended to prevent vapour lock when it's hot summer day and engine is hot as well.

Not really. That thread is about NG, and KE-jet is whole lot different story than KV with it's K-jet.

Thanks John,

MSH engine is NG, interesting read, will have a look as far as I am aware the only sensors I have not replaced are knock sensors......... Lambda was done 3/4000 miles ago or there abouts, along with all temp sensors...........

Dan, worth checking air trunking/pipes for leakage?

Ah, you misled with that note about injector cooling fan that 2.3 never had. There is only one sensor that could affect starting - temp sensor - and also condition of two things - mixture adjustment and control pressure regulator. And of course, various small things that you couldn't tell without seeing the car - like serious fuel injection problems of C3q NF engine that turned out caused by rotten ignition control unit connector, caused by water leak and was found only accidentally.

ok thanks guys. will have to investigate further...

Just a thought, going by my exhaust tailpipes, which are pretty black in less than a week, this would lead me to believe there is a good chance the car is running a bit on the rich side......................

Maybe?
