A4 Cabrio rear window
My A4 Cabrio Hood rear window (glass) has become unstuck in a corner. Is there any adhesive / technique for me to repair it, or is there a specialist?
My local says "Get a new hood": so that's a NO! |

My TT has done this, it's a common thing on Mk1 TTs. The best thing I've found is some of the two-part epoxy adhesive from the pound shop. I've tried Gorilla glue, Tiger seal and something else, and the cheapo 70p a pack stuff is the best so far. The biggest trouble is holding the window against the inside of the hood while the glue sets, but my epoxy sets in five minutes, I can stand there holding it in place for that long.
I have read about a 3M product, you could have a search for TT Roadster rear window and see if you can find it. I think it was a tape product, but I might be getting confused. I have had to put some sealant around it, and it doesn't look as nice as it could but I had to use what I had. It's still not perfectly sealed, but I hope to make it better before winter. Handily on the TT they have one of the ECUs under the right hand corner, so I also want to stick some plastic over that. |

I hope it works for you. I noticed yesterday that another section of my TT is coming away, so I'll have the epoxy out this afternoon.

You can buy window cleaner tools that are VERY strong magnets on two pads, connected by some string in case you drop one.
One of those placed on each side of the screen will clamp it in place.

Once you find the suitable bond, the trick is to leave the hood undone, as in not fully closed, thus allowing the bond to set when the canvass is slightly relaxed.A couple of cushions placed inside against the glass will keep suitable pressure without pushing the glass out of position, tricky but with a bit of patience it works, been there 2002 A4 cabby.Sorry I cant remember which glue stuff I used
