Having recently picked up the tab for restoring our long ownership, roadworthy and good original condition example I would suggest any such delusional thoughts of a quick, cheap fix are exactly that... Delusional.
From a basic maths point of view, think purchase price +£20k. If you’re half decent with a spanner you can trim a bit off, if you’re expert with a welder you can trim a lot off but it has to be OEM good to keep the value. If you can rebuild the drivetrain as well... It’s the car for you.........
