Default Which exhaust front section?

Hi folks,

I need a new front section for the exhaust on my 80 and one of the options I'm looking at is to get one on ebay.

I've found these two so far and I'm a bit confused...
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.d...m=200218869721
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.d...m=190217290960

My car is an 80GL, 1781 CC, first registered on 01/05/1985... but how am supposed to know whether it's the 90hp or the 112hp version? I'll give the seller a call tomorrow but I feel I ought to know!

Secondly, does anyone have any thoughts on whether these are a decent price or whether I'd do better elsewhere?

Hello Dave, Sorry, just seen this post after I replied to your other one. It's the one on the 2nd link that you'd need. I bought a complete system off these guys & fitted it to my Sport last year. On the whole & for the price, very good. I had to do a bit of 'firtling' to stop it knocking on the rear valance, but all in all & for the price - they're (down pipe) about £80 - £90 from Kwick-Fit & the like - I'd go for it.

Hi mate, just seen your other reply - I might well be interested in the bit you have if it's the right part! How soon can you check and how much are you looking for?

I've got an engine number from the V5C (DS296494) - is that any use? I've no fricking clue about the cat though!

Just had a look at the parkers guide and it looks like the 90 bhp version is the carb version, 112 is the injected one.
Wouldn't have thought a UK 1985 car will have a cat.

That makes sense, thanks. That would agree with BigT80's recommendation about the second ebay listing.

The B2 80 GL is definately 90 bhp DS engine code - Sport was 112 - no cat on a B2 UK spec

Well guys, I bought the front section on ebay and, after a lot of faffing about, waiting for mechanics to get back to me and waiting for the front section fixing kit to arrive, my car is still off the road!

I'm now being told that I'll need the rest of the exhaust from the front section backwards. It would have been nice if the mechanics could have spotted this when they first had the car on the ramp more than 3 weeks ago. I've got the guys at the garage trying to source them for me but I think it's definitely worth finding options on ebay too. Trouble is, I'm not sure exactly which bits are which. Can anyone point me in the right direction?

Thanks
Dave

Thanks mate, I called them and they seemed to know what they were talking about.

They should be able to sort all three sections out by the end of the week at a total cost of £61. Needless to say, the parts dept at the garage have done precisely nothing so far in their own search but I need to wait for them to get on with it before I can place an order.
