I think if I were to buy a 90 it would also be the 20v sport. That's the desirable one

The ones I like are the early KV 2226cc 2.2E and quattro and the later 20V Sport and quattro 20V Sport models.

Not such a fan of the later NG 2309cc 2.3E and quattro, or the non Sport 20V models.
I would go as far to say that the later 2.3E and quattro models with wheeltrims, no sports seats, DIY rear windows etc, I particularly dislike.

What were Audi thinking when they downgraded the spec on the later cars?

An absolute travesty seeing a 90 with them. It used to boil my piss when I got in my white 90q 20V, and was confronted with a particularly offensive blanking plate where my previous 90 2.2E had switches for the rear windows.
