SwallownAmazon, Not shocked at your 39mpg, my own 20v 7A in the B2 coupe has returned 38mpg for me on a run up north, as for ISV just give it a clean first to see if it improves the car idle running, you may find it is not the ISV but start there first.
JOHN, Very happy to see you have managed to pull your finger out and get the S2 off to the spray shop.

I could've gone with the original repairer/quoters but getting it done by someone who's done work for me before......he's good, but has a lot of work going his way.

Nothing special actually - such cars are likely to get good fuel mileage than newer cars, especially car like B3 - it has good aerodynamics, low weight and fuel injection. In your case fuel mileage is rather poor, because 20v engine is thirsty - NG would be more frugal and 3A even more.

As for ISV, cleaning likely washes out lubrication of it's bearings. No idea about hitachi ISV, I've seen pictures of bosch ISV disassembled for through cleaning.
