To be diplomatic, I understand that Bobby "made certain, very interesting changes to the car" and despite this............he still won!

Errr, yes I think Bobby just decided to do his own thing.

Yet again, it proves how good the quattro is, though!

Without a doubt. A really telling moment when a man like Unser travels to Germany and spends a couple months with Audi Sport learning how to drive this monster car. On some levels thia can be said to show his desire to learna and adapt. In general Unser comes from the American racing tradition which drives American cars. Time changes all things. Reminds me of Audi's brief dip into IMSA racing, Hans Stuck, led to the Quattro being essentially banned from this form of racing. Hans was passing cars on the inside in the rain.

There's no doubting Unser's dominance of Pikes Peak - he won it 13 times?

Anyway....... back to business, and here's Michele heading to a Rally Car class win in 1984 with the added novelty of having a co-driver!

So, is this a different car from 85? If so how was it different?
Nice picture, and I kind of like the simpler graffix.

Yeah they did that with Hannu's Sport ( 44 WMN ) on the 86 Shell Oils British Open Rally Championship. It was just a white car with a few sponsor decals and the 'Shell Oils' stripe on the bonnet for the first rally of that series, 'The National Breakdown rally'. Then by the end of that season it was in full colours as can be seen on the car today.

It's a tricky one to pin down, but I've got a good idea that the 1984 Pike Peak car was the same as that used by Walter on The Metz Rally.

It's very much a different car to that of 1985, not only in chassis, as the 1984 car was very similar to the Homologated Rally Cars for World Championship use.

In Summary, the 1985 car was a lightweight version on steroids, and Michele left the co-driver at home this time.

Fabrizia was probably o.k. with that decision!
