Physical and mechnical help needed
I'm writing this plea cos I really need some help both physically and mechanically with a track rod end problem. I've got a track rod end to replace and for the life on me I can't get it off. It's been soaked in penetrating fluid for weeks, pulled at, tugged, smacked, blow torched and all to no avail. In fact all I've manage to do is to get the rod end sitting at right angles to it's orginal position. I can't get the car to a garage, she's on axles and the rod end is damged beyond repair so I can't fit the suspension to even get the car mobile to move her.
I really am at the end of my expertise on this. I don't have any idea what to do next. So if anyone has experience of shifting these things, has the proper tools and expertise and wouldn't mind spening a couple of hours in a small concrete garage in Stockport showing me what to do I'd be very grateful. Willing to cover any expenses incurred Thanks in advance Martyn Heres the offending thing |

I'll ask the question martyn.....
On alot of cars the TRE's are LH thread...There is an adjuster bar for setting the tracking and i'm pretty sure the outer thread is the LH thread (i may be wrong). Theres also a lock nut from memory...

have a look at the new track rod ends and see if they are handed . or the part numbers the same for both sides ?
and when you do get it undone dont move the lock nut to far only enough to tighten up against .it will be the stop for when you fit the new ones |
