Just read that your capable of doing suspension rebuilds.Right then.......your capable of doing this also to fix your misfire problems. Your wiring for the coils is most likely cracked and arcing all over the place. Take the lid of and show us a close up pic,only 3 x allen bolts. If it's cracked, you need a new loom. So you might as well approach Alex on here (error404) and S2 forum for one of his new looms and then buy the modern coils he recommends.All this is very easy to do and needs no specialist knowledge. This should be your first port of call. I'm assuming your car is producing good pressure on all cylinders.What's the mileage?

Ps,you mention misfiring.I take it it's running on all 5 cylinders?? The other fairly common fault is it runs on 4 because the POS (power output stages) is playing up. This is also a very easily replaced part. Plus gaps are also vital to ensuring a clean burn and if they're too big this can also produce misfires. I could check for you later the plug gaps but have to dash. HTH.

Hi, thanks for the info, I'm now inclined to look into the POS you mentioned. Pressure was good on all cyl. with 103k miles. We have checked it for sparks from the new plugs which all work fine of all 4 cyl. So even by swaping the new coil and new spark plugs between cyl number 4 & 5 we got the same result. So coil and spark plug works fine from 4th but never in 5th cyl. I shall investigate further on this POS when time allows.
Any more info on POS and its availability would be appreciated if anyone does know please. Thanks pal.
