What's the legality on something like this?
I mean, it's not something that requires an MOT, yet the guy has used it already on the road. Does it need to pass some sort of test? If not it's a bit crazy that something like this could be bombing down the motorway past you.

Its a trailer, just like a caravan no test needed, but still needs to have legal tyres, be roadworthy (however thats defined) and I suppose depending on weight some sort of brakes.

I have heard that the first generation Ka was ridiculously prone to rust to a degree that seems farcical even to someone who grew up with early-80s recycling steel...

Trailer requirement I thing is to have a chassis tag on it with maximum load and so on, hear is a scenario for insurance claim, the trailer is on the motorway being towed by a car, the front A frame and towing hitch break away from the trailer/car body and hits you, the towing car flees the accident scene, insurance form, describe the accident, I was hit by another car at 50-60mph it had no engine or front wheel.

Take the back bumper off a rusty Ka & it's shocking how bad they can get behind.
