Audi 80/90 locking fuel cap
After one of these, one of the earlier ones with the lock in the cap itself.
It’s going to be broken apart so I can see if the lock can be safely removed. Thanks! |

Yes, it is possible. But there are two kinds of caps, and in case of B3, it has both of them - early B3 has bayonet type cap, newer cars have screw type cap. Later one is very easy to take apart, as it's all plastic - earlier one was more tricky, but also very doable.

Already split my old one, recoded the lock but the plastic ring that located into the cap is warped and it’s sitting squint.
Might be time for some Araldite or hot plastic glue |
