Hi all

my coupe is up very definitely for sale on EBAY. Please can you ask any questions through ebay as I am no longer active on this forum. Its a bidding sale with no buy it now.

Full ebay ad below

I am offering my extremely rare if not unique and one off Audi Coupe GT5S for sale.

Car is a well presented 1982 coupe in Gobi Gold. This colour was never officially offered in the UK but the car is a bona fide UK sale complete with original bill of sale. She is not an import or armed services vehicle. So she is totally unique to the UK with a touch of mystery. I have never driven a car which gains so many looks and compliments. Bear in mind she is offered as a usable classic, she is far from perfect but she is honest and has never wanted for anything in my ownership.

I am the third owner of the car, purchased in 2008 and she has been the subject of a long and well documented rolling restoration documented on the Classic Audi forum.

In my ownership she has had the following work performed to provide subtle period upgrades or modifications. I have tried to retain as much period and Audi integrity as possible.

Mileage is undetermined but she is showing 38,150 miles. However this is the mileage of the current engine which was replaced about a year before my ownership. The speedometer which came with the engine was fitted at the same time. The engine gives full compression on all 5 cylinders and starts first time.

  • Fully rebuilt ported and polished cylinder head, all valves, valve guides etc replaced.
  • Reprofiled cam by Newman Cams (fast road) and customer made shims for setting the correct valve clearances.
  • Lowered suspension all round
  • Full front and rear subframe and rear axle bushes replaced (polybushed)
  • Front and rear brake upgrade, front to vented discs and larger calipers, rear to discs and associated new brake lines fitted.
  • Brand new 14" alloy wheels
  • Brand new weber carburettor
  • Full stainless steel exhaust system by PipeWerx
  • Replacement of inlet and exhaust gaskets to cure exhaust gasket blowing at manifold joint.
  • Type 85 seats and door cards fitted as the originals turned to dust
  • Replacement steering arms and ball joints
  • Replacement engine mountings
  • Replacement boot lining
  • Period and very rare Audi Sport"Italvolanti" steering wheel and gearknob
  • Period GTI engineering bodykit again very rare. Front dam and sill covers fitted. Rear panel included but requires paint.
  • Black Quattro raised spoiler fitted and boot top resprayed black as a nod to her original form.
  • A full shed of spares is available, too many parts to list
If she was to be kept then there are a few things I would do those being:
  • Driver seat bolster is wearing. I have a spare seat back for material and repairs
  • Replacement of certain interior panels (most are to hand in the spares part stash)
  • Replacement radio (period item is available just needs fitting)
  • Passenger side electric window is very slow. Needs either a replacement motor or a clean up.
  • Power locking is driven by an airpump and the pump tends to run on a bit. Suspect there is an airleak in the pipe work somewhere.
  • Respray. Paintwork is good by and large (bodykit is crazing) and she is very presentable and usable. It's just an area I don't personally want to spend on.

There's another one on eBay at the moment - a light green one. Funny, these cars are as rare as hen's teeth, yet 2 have cropped up at the same time

Good luck with the sale btw

Thank you everyone for the kind words and well wishes.

Gobi has now been sold and goes into a private collection of Audi's located somewhere in Cheshire. She will be sat alongside her brothers and sisters from the period in a temperature controlled environment and used for occasional use.

So thats it from me. I've been a part of this forum family since its early days and I will take away a lot of happy memories and good friends.

Whatever you do in life, do it with a smile on your face and play nicely.

Over and out xx
